A Maersk subsidiary APM Terminals operates container terminals in 36 countries spread across the globe including 155 inland depots in over 57 ports in Europe, America, Middle East, Asia etc. Another significant subsidiaryare Maersk Tankers, which is into the shipping of oil, gas and related products around the world. Their fleet boats currently of 140 carriers for crude, petroleum products, gas and LNG. Another subsidiary Maersk Drilling has 26 drilling rigs worldwide and offers drilling related services to companies globally. Maersk Oil is involved in the production of natural gas around the globe. Their total capacity for oil production is 600,001+ barrels in one single day and 1 billion cubic feet per day for gas. Besides these, Maersk is also involved in retailing through investments in various supermarkets and retail stores. Their other activities include training for specific industries, airlines (Star Air), banking ( 20% shareholder in Danske Bank), rail shuttle (ERS Railways B.V.).

Over the years, they have earned recognition for their services from the industry and their customers. A few of the recent ones being the Company of the Year award on the Lloyd’s List, Global Ocean Carrier of the Year award by Containerisation International. These are just a few of the ones they received during the years 2012 and 2013.
